What will I actually be doing in this role?
Shifts are available that start at 5:30, 7:30, 14:30, and 21:30. Afternoon and evening shifts attract a 15% or 30% shift loading. Our laser cutting plant cuts parts out of large metal sheets of mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, and sometimes copper or perforated materials.
Your tasks initially will be to pick parts out of the metal sheets, quality check them, then send them off for packaging/dispatch. For example you may have a sheet that contains 1000 security gate latches that need to be counted and checked for quality before moving on, some days your sheet will contain all of the parts required to fabricate a 4×4 canopy that need to be checked and sorted into kits.
Many other tasks need to be performed including moving material around in stores, grinding, paperwork, checking and sorting stock, or running parts through our tertiary processes such as edge rounding, deburring, and chemical cleaning.
As you learn about the operation of our factory we hope you gravitate towards the tasks that you have the best aptitude for. There are many opportunities and avenues for advancement here at Express Metal Products.
