Join the team operating our state of the art laser cutting facility in Meadowbrook, QLD.
Full-Time – 42 hours per week
Reporting to: Production Manager
Hours: 7:30am-4:30pm Monday-Friday (Early knockoff Fridays)
Salary: $60,000-$80,000 pa, based on experience
About the Role:
We are excited to offer a unique opportunity to join our CNC laser programming team, assisting with the efficient and accurate production of metal products for the Australian Manufacturing industry.
In this role you will apply your knowledge and experience of profile cutting and sheet metal manufacturing combined with our best-in-class software package TruTops Boost, to train and direct the machine learning algorithms in the most efficient nesting of parts upon raw materials. You will be instrumental in the review of material nests using your keen eye for detail to apply the most suitable laser cutting parameters with a view to optimise sheet yield and laser cutting output within a tight lead-time.
This position is ideal for a junior CNC programmer eager to advance their career or an experienced laser operator seeking a role with clear paths for professional development and career progression.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and optimize customer CAD drawings using best practice nesting and tagging methodologies across various equipment.
- Modify parts and make adjustments where necessary using the CAD functions available in our CAM, using Autodesk AutoCAD, and opportunities to start working with 3D assemblies in Autodesk Inventor.
- Achieve superior nesting results by evaluating all parts scheduled for production to maximize material yield.
- Program, review, and remotely export laser cutting programs to our TRUMPF CO2 and Fiber lasers including the selection of technology tables, cutting profiles, tag sizes, and scheduling parameters.
- Expand your skills by configuring and programming the range of industrial automation systems in use at Express Metal Products including each of our Liftmaster loaders which enable our machines to cut for hours at a time, completely unmanned, in a lights-out scenario
- Gain exposure to centralised programming of our high-rate TRUMPF CNC bending and folding operations from the CAM – export bending programs for use in our facility
- Contribute where able in the selection and procurement of raw materials from our network of trusted suppliers
- Assist with the management, recovery, and utilisation of raw material offcuts and remnants to apply further upward pressure upon our effective material yield
Quality Assurance:
- Uphold the high quality standards applied to all processes and procedures
- Assist the in the creation, implementation, or optimisation of QA process
- Report and contribute to the investigation of any quality issues
- Engage actively in our continuous improvement efforts to enhance work methods and outputs
Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in a sheet metal manufacturing environment is required particularly:
- Knowledge of different material types and their qualities
- Understanding of sheet metal production and processing technologies and procedures
- Experience operating manufacturing related software including ERP,procurement, and job management systems
- Beneficial skills include:
- Experience in CAD and CAM, particularly TRUMPF TruTops Boost
- Experience as a profile cutter including plasma or watercutting
- Experience as a press brake operator
